Casting for Small Mouth Sounds by Bess Wohl (Performs May 4 - 7)
In the overwhelming quiet of the woods, six runaways from city life embark on a silent retreat. As these strangers confront internal demons both profound and absurd, their vows of silence collide with the achingly human need to connect. Filled with awkward humor, this strange and compassionate new play asks how we address life's biggest questions when words fail us.
Joan late forties/early fifties
A Therapist and Sex Educator, in favor of pleasure, a lot of rage beneath the surface.
Judy early fifties
Joan’s partner, works at O magazine as a top editor in the art department. Very type A.
Alicia thirty-ish
Former child actor and beauty pageant star. Lost, loud, loves being watched.
Ned forties
An outdoor enthusiast who has had a run of extremely bad luck
Rodney mid-thirties
A fit, gorgeous yoga teacher who wears a lot of man-jewelry; a womanizer
Jan (male) Fifties
A Pastor from a small Lutheran church in Finland. Curious, sweet, open.
The Teacher
This character is voiced on a microphone and never seen. It’s a disembodied, androgynous voice with a strange, slightly accented way of talking.
A Christmas Carol
Seeking adults and children to fill in the cast of A Christmas Carol for December of ‘23. Some of the original cast will be returning, some will not. Young children welcome.
We will also be looking for actors for the Cutting Edge Staged Reading series.
